It's been hailed as the largest agricultural event in the Southern Hemisphere with around 125,000 people attending every year.

The gates at Mystery Creek in Hamilton, opened up yesterday for the country's annual Fieldays event which runs right through to Saturday.

This year Fieldays is seeing its largest international contingent with 11 exhibitors from overseas and delegates from 42 countries.

Indira, producer Katrina Batten and videographer Claire Eastham-Farrelly went down after yesterday morning's show to check it out.

That was Fieldays veteran Rom Stellingwerf from Leask Engineering.

Whether you're there to shop or to see the latest cutting edge technology and innovation for the industry. Fieldays has something for everyone.

And if you're coming to Fieldays and you're single, looking for a potential love interest, you might be interested in its annual singles event - Rural Catch.

Eight rural singles have been selected for this year's Fieldays Rural Catch event and they're competing for an impressive prize pool and to take home the Golden Gumboot.

They have a series of tasks to undertake including a chainsaw challenge event and building a fence.
