Napier residents are being warned to take care in potentially contaminated flood waters, as the city moves to mop up after a one-in-250-year flood that swamped the city's wastewater system.
It's still raining there and more heavy showers are expected this evening, hampering the the clean-up.
A number of homes have been evacuated and some say they are lucky to have survived.
The newly appointed Minister for Emergency Services Kiri Allan arrived in Napier a short time ago and joins Lisa Owen with the latest.
