Weather: Daffodils wilt, lambs shiver in Canterbury cold snap

From Checkpoint, 6:16 pm on 1 September 2020

Spring started today with a cold snap to jolt parts of the South Island out of unseasonably warm temperatures.

Heavy snow fell on inland and coastal Canterbury, with a dusting for Ashburton and Temuka.

The weather left spring lambs and calves shivering, and newly sprung daffodils wilting, with the MetService warning of a few frosty days ahead. Tracy Neal reports.
