Firefighters are continuing to battle a large scrub fire in the South Island's Mackenzie District.
The fire is believed to have started around half past eleven yesterday morning near Lake Pukaki.
One homestead has been destroyed, with a number of smaller outbuildings also ruined.
Firefighters efforts' have been hampered by strong Northwesterly winds, but it's hoped wet weather tonight will bring relief to the area.
Our reporter Anan Zaki has been following the developments and filed this report.
