AT THE MOVIES #866     BIGGEST AND BEST

Simon Morris starts the countdown to the Oscars next month, looking at two contenders - Belfast and Parallel Mothers.  He also checks out an Indian-American family romcom, from the producers of Crazy Rich Asians.

Belfast is based on Sir Kenneth Brannagh's memories of growing up in Northern Ireland, just as the Troubles broke out.  Starring Jamie Dornan, Judi Dench, Ciaran Hinds and young Jude Hill as "Buddy".

India Sweets and Spices sees American-born Alia clash with her traditional mother in suburban Ruby Hill.  She's shocked to discover Mum wasn't always as conservative as she seems.  Stars Sophia Ali (Grey's Anatomy).

And Parallel Mothers, the latest from legendary Spanish director Pedro Almadovar, is the acclaimed story of two mother and two babies born on the same day.  Stars Penelope Cruz.
