AT THE MOVIES #850                    DONE WITH FISH

Simon Morris signals his waning interest in the once all-conquering Marvel Cinematic Universe, and wonders if a new hero will turn the tide.   He also looks at a good example of the traditional “haunted house” ghost story, and a documentary about the discovery and sale of the most expensive painting ever auctioned.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings draws on Chinese myths and legends, as well as the all-conquering Marvel Comics country.  Featuring Chinese superstars Tony Leung and Michele Yeoh, and popular comedienne Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians).

The Night House sees Rebecca Hall (Professor Marston and the wonder women) as a widow under siege in her new house from mysterious forces.

And Danish director Andreas Koefoed talks about his documentary about the shock to the art world when a new painting by Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci shows up in New Orleans.   But that’s just the start of a story of art, greed, politics and scandal.
