AT THE MOVIES #823      IT'S NOT A TAPEWORM IT'S 2020

Simon Morris looks back on a rocky year in movies - and everything else.  Highlights included an extraordinary year for New Zealand's films and film makers - from Taika Waititi's Oscar for Jojo Rabbit to local hits Savage, This Town and Baby Done.

It was also a year when the usual blockbusters were held back and audiences discovered Small was Beautiful.

And the latest Pixar film Soul is an ambitious look at where character and personality come from, through the character of a jazz musician.  Writer-Director Pete Docter talks about where the idea came from - and how New Zealand actor Rachel House came to be part of Soul.
