Dan Slevin watches three new releases centred on people whose best days might be behind them – and how they cope with that.
Palm Beach is written and directed by Rachel Ward and stars her husband Bryan Brown as a former music manager reuniting with the band for his birthday. They all have secrets to share and axes to grind. Also starring Sam Neill, Greta Scacchi, Richard E. Grant and Jacqueline McKenzie.
Late Night is about a fading talk show host (Emma Thompson) and the up and coming young comedy writer (Mindy Kaling) who tries to reinvigorate her career.
And Diego Maradona is a documentary by Oscar-winner Asif Kapadia (Senna, Amy) about the great Argentinian footballer – his triumphs and disgrace.
