AT THE MOVIES #763                   SOMETHING FOR THE OLDIES

Simon Morris is puzzled that the only audiences being catered for currently seem to be comic-book fans and the older generation.  This week sees three staples for the latter audience – Shakespeare, the Downton Abbey period and World War Two.

Both The Chaperone, written by Downton’s Julian Fellowes, and The Aftermath, starring Keira Knightley, are a little too reminiscent of older and better movies.

On the other hand, All is true is William Shakespeare as we’ve rarely seen him – at the end of his career.  Director-star Kenneth Branagh talks about turning fact into drama – as Shakespeare did himself, of course.
