AT THE MOVIES #698 ACROSS THE UNIVERSES
Simon Morris is under-impressed by this year’s crop of Cinematic Universes, including the latest, The Dark Tower, based on the Stephen King novels. He also reviews “hillbilly heist” Logan Lucky, and the latest Steve Coogan/Rob Brydon road-movie The Trip To Spain.
The Dark Tower. Very American fantasy from novelist Stephen King, pitting Idris Elba (good) against Matthew McConaughey (evil).
Logan Lucky. Director Steven Soderberg (Oceans 11) returns to the big screen, and the heist movie. Starring Channing Tatum, Adam Driver and Daniel Craig.
The Trip To Spain. The third Trip movie, featuring dueling comedians Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan, with a side-order of Spanish cuisine.
