Bomber Command - Neville Selwood

From Afternoons, 2:10 pm on 24 September 2013

A Dunedin man is finally being recognised for his World War II contribution flying in Bomber Command. Neville Selwood was only 18 years old when he got the call up from the airforce. He was trained at various bases all over New Zealand and did pilot training in Canada before he took up his position as navigator on board the famous Avro Lancasters of Bomber Command. He and his squad flew 25 missions in all before the war ended, whereupon he was shipped back home to New Zealand. In the decades that followed, he spoke little of his wartime years, but with the service of Bomber Command being officially recognised, Neville Selwood is remembering his experiences once more.
