The Sapphires

They came from New Zealand but sounded like Motown. The Maori Volcanics formed in 1964 and launched the musical careers of some of New Zealand's most loved performers like Billy T Williams and Prince Tui Teka. But what is less well known, is that they may have helped the four young aboriginal women from the Australian group, The Sapphires find their sound too.
