Wartime glove returned

Seventy years ago flight commander Lloyd "Tommy" Thomas and lieutenant Ray McLauchlan of Timaru were about to make a strafing run over a Japanese airfield when Thomas's Hurricane was struck by ground fire. His plane nose dived into the ground as his friend watched in horror. Ray McLauchlan died last December and his family found a flight glove that belonged to Tommy Thomas among his possessions. Now the glove has been returned to the only surviving nephew of the RAF flight Commander Thomas.
