Voyage to Rapanui - Easter Island

It's almost a month since two waka hourua - double hulled sailing canoes - left Auckland for five-month return journey to Rapanui, or Easter Island. The 24 crew members on board the two waka are planning to complete the journey using traditional methods of navigation - relying on the sun, stars, moon and ocean currents. The skipper and head navigator of one of the waka is Jack Thatcher.
