Weta Digital, the people who did the special effects in Lord of the Rings, King Kong and Avatar, approached Massey University vets to try and create the most realistic horses possible for a movie about the 16th President of the United States hunting vampires. Weta Digital wanted to get everything just right, from the way the horses run, to the hair on their backs and the nostrils on their faces.
