Auckland Story for 23 March 2011 - German Carpenters

From Afternoons, 3:35 pm on 23 March 2011

Rechtschaffene Fremde Zimmerer und Schieferdäker Gesellen is the name of an 800-year old German guild of builders and roofers, and two of it's newest members have been in New Zealand for six months. To join this guild, young builders must travel the world for a specified time learning about new building techniques and customs, and are not allowed to return home until that time has passed. David Steemson spoke to Achim Mann and Karsten Burau.
