Can you trademark the word 'bach'?

Business is booming at Sumner's Kiwi Bach cafe, a little slice of Kiwiana by the seaside. But a lawyer's letter out of the blue last week has given John pause. The letter says the word 'bach' is trademarked by its client The Frenzi Group, which operates The Bach, a gaming and sports bar in Taupo.
