If you think a long haul flight in economy class is tough, spare a thought for Mark Twain. In his time, the American writer covered most of the globe on rickety ships and slow trains, with bad food and ill health his constant companions. He made it down our way once, but neither the funny man's reason for coming here or his time spent here were much of a laughing matter.
