Using VR to prevent bystander effect

From Afternoons, 1:26 pm on 6 November 2023

We all like to think we'll be the one to step up in an emergency - help out when we see someone getting bullied, help a victim in a crime, or someone collapsed in the street.

But the 'Bystander Effect' may come into play and stop you from being the kind of person you thought you were. It's a social psychological theory, that states that the more passive bystanders that are present at an emergency, the less likely you are to help.

Fanni Fazakas has created an award winning narrative experience using extended reality to educate people about the bystander effect.
