No Barriers: Small Island Big Ideas, invigorating Aotea residents

From Afternoons, 1:30 pm on 19 May 2022

Aotea Great Barrier is a pretty special place. It has a rich history dating back to the very first settlement of New Zealand by the ancestors of today's Maori population Ngati Rehua Ngati Wai ki Aotea.

It is home to around 1000 permanent residents, and one of them is award winning science writer and environmentalist Tim Higham. Tim wrote 'Island Notes',  all about living on the island, and how islanders look at the world a little differently.

He is also the curator of an event called No Barriers: Small Island Big Ideas, which kicks off this Sunday. He talks to Jesse about the events and giving his island neighbours a 'wake up call'.
