In our new Thursday series for 2022 - NZ Sporting History - we go back to a defining moment for sport in 1982. For the first time ever, the All Whites qualified for the Fifa World Cup. Jesse Mulligan speaks to former All-Whites defender and Phoenix coach, Ricki Herbert, who was a member of that 1982 squad. He went on to coach the All Whites back to the final 28 years later in 2010.
