Critter of the Week - Twin-tailed Salp

From Afternoons, 3:33 pm on 17 December 2021

Salps are gender-fluid, translucent jelly-beans which band together to form long chains, travelling the oceans in a gelatinous tunic!

The world’s largest salp is called the Twin-sailed Salp and the biggest specimen was found off the coast of New Zealand during a NIWA expedition. It is also called the Super Pooper because it’s nutritious poop feeds life on the seafloor.
