The winner of a new creative writing prize worth $10,000 has just been announced.
The Crystal Arts Trust Prize is the largest creative writing prize at any New Zealand university. It was founded by James and Rosetta Allan to support literature, music and visual art.
The inaugural winner is Sri Lankan Pākehā writer and actor Saraid de Silva, who has been described as "fresh and vital voice in New Zealand literature" by Auckland University Master of Creative Writing course director, Paula Morris.
Saraid joins Jesse to talk about her prize-winning work.
