Top Town first screened on New Zealand television in 1976, a travelling summer TV game show styled partly on a British series called It's a Knockout.
It was held at sports grounds in local towns, and athletes competed for $9000 in prize money, in a series of crazy games til the point of exhaustion.
It ran for 15 summers til 1990 - the original hosts were Sir Howard Morrison and Paddy O'Donnell.
