Push for cycling trial on Auckland's Harbour Bridge

From Afternoons, 1:14 pm on 28 May 2021

A bike rally is planned for this Sunday in Auckland as frustrations grow over lack of action in putting a cycle lane on the Harbour Bridge.

Bike Auckland is calling on Waka Kotahi to "liberate" a lane on the Bridge for bikes in a three-month trial this summer.

Meanwhile, cyclists in Wellington are overjoyed after the council did a U-turn and voted for what's being described as a "bells and whistles" cycleway plan for their city.

Senior writer at the New Zealand Herald, Simon Wilson, closely follows transport issues in Auckland and talks to Jesse about why it shouldn't be so hard to put one in place.
