For many people who grew up in the 1960s and 70's the fear of quicksand was very real.
Countless television shows and movies featured characters slowly disappearing into quicksand with seemingly no escape, until a hero human or dog came long to rescue them.
But is quicksand really a thing, and how common is it?
While the editor of New Zealand Geographic, Rebekah White was walking up a river this week she found herself plunging into the ground!
