Close to Home was New Zealand's very first soap opera. It screened from 1975 until 1983, and centered around a Wellington family, the Heartes, as well as their friends and neighbours.
We thought it was the perfect show to launch off our new series looking back at New Zealand screen history - at this time each week we'll talk to someone behind a classic New Zealand tv show or movie.
To look back at Close to Home Jesse is joined by former television producer and industry veteran Irene Gardiner - who is pretty much an amateur screen historian with an encycloepadic knowledge of the screen industry.
