Crimes NZ - The kidnapping of Baby Kahu

From Afternoons, 2:30 pm on 2 July 2020

It's every parent's worst nightmare, having your baby taken from you by an armed stranger and held to ransom.

That's exactly what happened in 2002 to Wellington lawyer Donna Hall as she went for a walk with her two nieces,  and eight-month-old baby Kahu.

To go over the extraordinary case which gripped a nation for nine days, Jesse is joined by NZ Herald senior crime and justice reporter, Anna Leask, who's also produced a podcast series A Moment In Crime, which includes the Baby Kahu kidnapping case.

This segment, where Jesse talks one-on-one with people connected to major crimes and convictions (and false convictions) is proving very popular, so we've made it into a podcast series. Now you can get episodes of Crimes NZ wherever and whenever you want. And like all our podcasts, it's free here on RNZ.  The best thing to do is subscribe so it comes right to you. You can do that on RNZ's podcast page or get it from wherever you get your favourite podcasts - including Apple, Google, Spotify, and Stitcher.
