Our expert today is a forest ecologist who is a champion of seabirds.
Cam Speedy manages game, pest, and threatened species such as whio (blue ducks) and tuna (eels) - and consults on land management and waterway issues. He's also a conservationist, and educator who spends a lot of time hunting in the forests of the central North Island, around Turangi. Somewhat surprisingly, through the forests and mountains, he has come to appreciate seabirds.
Now he educates fishers in protecting the bird species they share the ocean with.
