Capturing and sharing a king tide

From Afternoons, 1:22 pm on 12 February 2020

Aucklanders are being encouraged to join a global movement - of capturing and recording king tides.

These are highest tides that occur naturally twice a year, when the there's alignment between the gravitational pull between the sun and the moon.

People involved are asked to snap photos of the king tide in their area, and send it to scientists to help them see what normal high tides could look like with projected sea level rises.

Ben Sheeran is the founder of the Auckland King Tide Initiative.
