Wellington's south coast: a new virtual underwater tour

From Afternoons with Jesse Mulligan, 1:34 pm on 20 November 2019

Wellington sea temperatures not so tempting? You can now explore the underwater world around Wellington's south coast with a laptop, phone or VR headset.

Take a virtual dive tour of Taputeranga Marine Reserve on Wellington's south coast here.

Local divers have used technology to bring the tour of the Reserve to life, showcasing marine life and the wreck of the HMNZS Wellington (a decommissioned navy boat intentionally sunk in 2005)

"It's a real gem, and it's probably the only fully protected marine reserve on the doorstep of a capital city, which makes it quite cool and special, as well," says Nicole Miller, a Reserve trustee and president of the Wellington Underwater Club.
