The science of exercise recovery

There's a whole industry built on easing the aches and pains that happen when you push your body in a workout. It's not just powders, nutrition bars and drinks, it's other things like ice baths and special compression tights.

Christie  Aschwanden is a science writer for the website FiveThirtyEight, she's also an athlete who found she could no longer go hard and go home. She writes about all the techniques she tried in her book Good to Go: What the Athlete in All of Us Can Learn From the Strange Science of Recovery.
