Hone Tuwhare -The boilermaker from Northland who didn't have enough money to attend secondary school, who went on to become one of New Zealand's most esteemed poets. He was twice Robert Burns Fellow at the Univesity of Otago, New Zealand's second poet laureate from 1999 to 2001 and was named by the Arts foundation as one of New Zealand's 10 living icons of the arts in 2003. His biographer Janet Hunt is joins Jesse to talk about Hone Tuwhare's amazing life and discuss his legacy.
