Leimomi Oakes is a Wellingtonian fashion and textile historian, sewing teacher, writer and part-time university lecturer. She hails from Hawaii, where she lived on the remote island of Molokai, making her own clothes because there were no stores.
She runs sewing classes 4 nights a week at the Dreamstress School of Vintage clothing, and says we're in the midst of a sewing revival. She shares her favourite books, movies, and songs with us.
We asked our listeners to tell us what they're sewing, we had lots of texts and emails! Here are a few of the pictures that were sent in.
