Stopping burnout in sporty kids

From Afternoons, 1:18 pm on 19 July 2018

Earlier this week on the programme we spoke to Black Fern Selica Winiata about the pressure on children in sport causing problems and leading to them dropping out from playing.

In response to that we were contacted by AUT's  Head of Department Coaching, Health & PE at the School of Sport and Recreation, Simon Walters who's researched the very topic we were discussing.

He and his colleagues have looked the concerns worldwide about the changing nature of both childhoods and the increasing serious nature of adult-controlled sport for young people.

He joins us to talk about what they've found and possibly what needs to change.
