From Afternoons, 2:16 pm on 22 June 2017

Dr Jess Berentson Shaw of the Morgan Foundation is with us once again, today she is looking the idea of a Universal Basic Income, or UBI, which is the idea of ensuring a minimum standard of income for all people regardless of what they do.

Dr Berentson Shaw says UBI has come up now because of the more precarious nature of paid work, but also because we have seen a lot of people working hard and it not getting them anywhere. "It is a revival of the idea of ensuring a minimum standard of income for all people regardless of what they do. A trampoline for all as opposed to a safety net for some."
