These were among last year’s fake news headlines, and it's looking like fake news will be one of the big issues of 2017.

Who is behind this misinformation and what motivates them to churn it out?

Kiwi John Jansen is head of engineering at a California tech company. Last year Jansen he helped NPR reporter Laura Sydell track down one of the biggest sources of fake news in the US.
