Joan Rivers - Michele A'Court

From Afternoons, 2:08 pm on 5 September 2014

Comedienne Michele A'Court joins us to talk about Joan Rivers. The caustic, raucous, rude and funny American comedienne has died at the age of 81. She was one of the first women to break into the male dominated world of stand up comedy. Joan Rivers began her career as an actress half a century ago. Her first television break through was in 1965 as a guest on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, the man who went on to be her mentor. She went on to host The Joan Rivers Show, which won her a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Host and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She was a harsh critic of celebrity style, but she herself was often the centre of her own jibes.
