Simon's A-Z

From Afternoons, 1:21 pm on 14 August 2014

We're in central Otago today, more specifically half way between Wanaka and Cromwell. 150 years ago this was the midway stop for coaches and wagons travelling from the goldfields to the wider district. Passengers would arrive on the twice-weekly coach service from Dunedin to Pembroke (now called Wanaka). Nearing the end of a week-long journey they would call at the Queensberry Inn. At times there would be up to 100 horses tethered outside.
