1:15 How do you negotiate a deal when you're at a stalemate?

Photo:

Today's so called "mega strike" has seen tens of thousands of teachers, nurses, doctors and other workers walk off the job today.

100 thousand people were expected to take to the streets today; the wild weather will have put a dent in those numbers, but the strike action will still be felt by many of us.

Today's action is the latest in a series of strikes this year, as it seems pay negotiations have hit an impasse.

And that got us thinking, what can be done in situations where there is a stalemate and indeed what are some tips for negotiating in general?

Going for a walk on the beach might feel like a distant dream looking out at the weather today, but summer is coming and in fact for some parts of New Zealand, is already here.

Warmer weather means bluebottle jellyfish are hitting our shores earlier than usual, and that's got Vets raising the alarm because jelly fish and dogs are not a happy union.

Former Vet Nurse Kerri Murray chats to Jesse.
