1:15 Adventure racing event True West held over the weekend

While many of us were braving the crowds at the malls over the weekend to get Christmas presents sorted, a hardy bunch from all over the South Pacific and Asia were racing non-stop for 48 hours on the rugged South Island west coast.

The event, called the True West Race was a multi-discipline race traversing the most remote and wild terrain of the region.

The event organiser is Nathan Fa'avae, himself an adventure racing world championship winner! He talks to Jesse.

ACM Removals general manager Rob Barton is attempting to raise funding for an awareness campaign so we can minimise the risks for workers. He talks to Jesse.

3:10 How to sleep better...

Getting a better night's sleep starts from the moment we wake up. No more sleeping in on the weekends, sleep expert Professor Aric Prather says there is no such thing on catching up on sleep. He says being as consistent as possible about the time we  wake up is one of the keys to better sleeping. He offers his suggestions for better sleep, like setting aside time during the day to worry about things, instead of letting them creep into your thoughts at night. His new book is called   The Sleep Prescription: Seven Days to Unlocking Your Best Rest.
