2:10 Crown Lynn - Justin Gregory

Hands up who remembers the Crown Lynn swans? Auckland's famous pottery may have closed its doors in 1989 but the fascination with its cups, mug, plates - and yes, the ceramic swans - goes on regardless. Te Toi Uku is a brand new museum dedicated to all things Crown Lynn and it opened earlier this month on the site of the old works. Justin Gregory went out to take a look but first of all, he caught up with enthusiastic collector and trader Alison Reid at her shop in downtown Auckland.

Rockburn Parkburn Riesling 2011 - Central Otago $15
Lovely lime zest on the nose - off dry, really polished, clean wine with delicious intensity and a juicy, citrus character.

Solar Viejo Crianza 2011 $18
Meaty, savoury nose with bramble fruit underneath - like blackberries, boysenberries. Velverty texture - firm tannins - a perfect match with some rare beef

Brookfields Hillside Syrah 2013
Great vintage! Deep bright red, lots of freshly ground black pepper on the nose and concentrated spicy plum fruit. A big, powerful wine yet beautifully balanced - delicious roight now but great to keep too.
