2:10 Grapes Boom - Mack Pouwhare - Grapevines in Marlborough have produced so much fruit this summer, that vineyards are frantically employing people to cut off - in some cases - half the bunches. Sauvignon Blanc vines which normally have 40 to 50 bunches are producing about 80. While it's good news for backpackers wanting work in Marlborough, grape growers are having to pay people to cut the fruit off, and there's concern about how wineries will cope with the massive crop. Mack Pouwhare is the managing director of a viticulture contracting company - Grapeworx Marlborough.
