Poet, writer, teacher, producer, rapper, DJ. These are just some of the creative hats worn by British performance artist Charlie Dark.
His career as a poet started as a way to fend off bullies at the age of thirteen, it's since taken him all over the world and into a variety of jobs, including a stint as Poet-In-Residence for the Arsenal football team.
He arrived in New Zealand this week as an Ambassador of the Spoken Word, brought over by The British Council as part of the People in Your Neighbourhood series of workshops and events. He'll be performing his poetry at venues around the country, and he's also appearing as part of the Schools Programme at the Auckland Readers and Writers festival next week.
