The Fiji Police Force is searching for a man who escaped on horseback during a drug raid in a settlement in Navosa Province on Thursday.
Police said the man was allegedly armed with a knife and threatened officers while they were executing a search warrant at his home in Vunibota Settlement, before fleeing the scene on horseback.
Police found almost 2000 dried plants wrapped in a cloth, as well as zip-lock bags containing loose dried leaves and seeds, which are believed to be marijuana.
"The 48-year-old woman was taken into custody, while the search continues for the second suspect. The seized materials have been sent for analysis as investigations continue," police said in a statement.
Meanwhile, arrests for the unlawful possession of illicit drugs, including marijuana and methamphetamine, were made throughout the week across all major districts, as police operations continue to focus on destroying and disrupting the illicit drug trade.
Assistant police commissioner (operations) Kasiano Vusonilawe said operations would be intensified heading into the festive season.
The public is urged to continue sharing information with the Fiji Police Force.
