Netball

Samoa has joined netball nations around the world in backing a global campaign calling for the inclusion of netball in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.

The campaign, led by World Netball and Netball Australia, aims to showcase worldwide support for the Olympic bid, with over 20 million players across 100 countries involved.

League

Fetu Samoa will have some experienced hands in their camp when they compete at the upcoming rugby league Pacific Championships.

The Samoa national women's side will be led by Annetta-Claudia Nu'uausala when they meet New Zealand and Australia.

She will be joined by Sienna Lofipo, who was originally named for the Australia Jillaroos, and NRL women's Dally M Rookie of the Year, Shalom Sauaso.

Veterans Destiny Brill and Niall Williams-Guthrie will provide experience and leadership in the squad.

Fetu Samoa kick off their campaign against New Zealand on Sunday, 19 October at Go Media Stadium in Auckland, before they face the Jillaroos at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on 26 October.

Football

New Caledonia's young footballers are returning home win-less from the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Chile.

The side lost their last pool game to France 6-0 on Monday.

They had earlier lost 9-1 to the United States and 5-0 to South Africa in their other group E matches.

Oceania Football said the team will have learned plenty from their experience at the event.

Cricket

Japan has defeated Samoa by five wickets in the teams' warm-up match prior to a Twenty20 World Cup qualifier in Oman.

Japan Cricket said former New Zealand star Ross Taylor was clean bowled by Makoto Taniyama as Japan eased to the win.

The Samoan batters struck nine sixes on their way to a total of 159 for five from their 20 overs.

Samoa and Papua New Guinea are the Pacific countries at the qualifier, which begins on Wednesday Oman time, with Samoa taking on Oman.

Three sides from the nine-team competition will qualify for the 2027 Men's Twenty20 World Cup.

Rugby

Wallaby prop Taniela Tupou will be part of a 'Youth in Union' rugby tour of Tonga this week.

The former Tonga College student is going home with gear and equipment to distribute to schools and clubs around the island kingdom.

Youth In Union said the tour will include coaching clinics and workshops in Vava'u, Ha'apai and Tongatapu.

A 20-foot shipping container filled with rugby gear and equipment was collected throughout the year and donated by players and rugby clubs from across Australia.

Football

The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) says random drug testing will be enforced at this year's Inter-District Championship in Ba.

FBC reported the association's general manager of operations, Anushil Kumar, saying the testing will be the same as in previous tournaments - one target and two random picks per team, per match.

He said this is part of the Fiji FA's fight to combat the issue of drugs and to ensure the sport remains drug-free.
