Papua New Guinea weightlifting great Dika Toua has been made a Member of the British Empire (MBE) for services to weightlifting.
The medal was presented to her by Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, who was in PNG to celebrate its 50 years of independence.
Team PNG said Toua made history as the first PNG woman to compete in Olympic weightlifting at the Sydney 2000 Games.
Beyond her international success, Toua has been instrumental in developing weightlifting and sports in PNG.
Rugby
Brisbane Broncos winger Israel Leota will join Moana Pasifika for the 2026 and 2027 Super Rugby Pacific seasons.
Moana Pasifika said the 20-year old has decided to leave the NRL powerhouse to chase a dream in rugby union.
The Porirua-born winger said he was captivated by the spirit of Moana Pasifika and believes the environment that the team has created made the club "a great place to be around".
Futsal
Vanuatu held Solomon Islands to a 1-1 draw on day three at the Oceania Futsal Men's Cup in Suva on Monday.
While Solomon Islands led 1-0 at halftime, Vanuatu responded with a goal to Paul Takaro in the second half.
Meanwhile, Fiji returned to winning ways, defeating Tuvalu 4-1.
Fiji tackles New Zealand on Tuesday, while Tuvalu will battle Vanuatu.
Football
Cook Islands claimed a 1-0 win over Tonga in their clash at the Oceania Women's Under-19 Championship in Tahiti.
Metuamaru Arere curled home a free kick from 25 metres to give her side the lead in the first half.
Despite dominating possession and territory, Tonga was unable to find a breakthrough.
On Monday local time, New Caledonia beat Vanuatu 1-0 with a strike from captain Julia Honakoko six minutes from full-time.
In the later game, New Zealand was facing Tahiti.
3x3 basketball
Fiji has remained winless at their first-ever 3x3 basketball World Cup in China at the weekend.
The men's team lost to Latvia, USA, China and Qatar.
The women's team went down to Czech Republic, New Zealand, Uganda and the Netherlands in their pool matches.
Lithuania claimed the men's title while Netherlands took out the women's crown.
The two Fijian teams qualified for the event after winning the gold medals in their respective divisions at the Pacific Mini Games in Palau in July.
