Fijiana player Bulou Vasuturaga will miss the rest of the team's Women's Rugby World Cup pool matches, while Manusina Samoa's Melina Salale is disputing her foul play ruling.

The Foul Play Review Committee found Vasuturaga guilty of a dangerous tackle during the team's match against Canada.

World Rugby said the player has been suspended for three matches, reduced to two on successful completion of the Coaching Intervention, after the committee reviewed the upgraded red card.

Meanwhile, the Disciplinary Committee will hear Manusina Samoa's Melina Salale in a full in-person hearing, after she disputed the Foul Play Review Committee's decision to suspend her for three games.

This followed her red card during Samoa's match against Australia.

Rugby

Tonga's 'Ikale Tahi rugby team have climbed to 17th on the World Rugby rankings, following their 30-16 win over Manu Samoa in Nuku'alofa last Saturday.

The team has jumped two places, up from 19th, while Samoa have dropped one place, from 13th to 14th.

The New Zealand All Blacks have kept number one spot despite their loss to Argentina, while former number ones South Africa climbed back to number two from third, after their victory over the Wallabies.

League

The Papua New Guinea Hunters rugby league team face an important game this week, following their 32-10 defeat at the hand of the Manly Seagulls in Brisbane last weekend.

Local media reported the Hunters moved to seventh spot overall before the game, but are now back in eighth, and face the Northern Pride in Cairns on Saturday.

Cricket

Papua New Guinea's men's cricket team, the Barrimundis, went down by 4 wickets to Kuwait in their second Challenge League A one-dayer in Jersey on Monday.

Cricket PNG said the team was bundled out for 148 runs in 35.2 overs.

Kuwait then finished on 149 for 6.

It was the Barramundis' second loss at the event, following their 18-run loss to Denmark.

The team has remaining matches against Kenya on Wednesday, Jersey on Thursday and Qatar on Saturday.

Rugby

The Fijian Drua General Manager says Fijian rugby's future must be led by its own people.

Baden Stephenson said they are building from within, and want to hand the club over to be coached, managed, and run by Fijians.

fijivillage.com reported Stephenson saying strong teamwork, staying true to Fijian culture, and developing players are key to long-term success.

The Fiji Rugby Union has involved local unions and stakeholders in a symposium this week to discuss preparing Fiji Rugby for tier one status.

FBC reported board chairman John Sanday saying the importance of building the pathway to rugby's highest level was centre of the discussions.

The week-long symposium brings together stakeholders, clubs, and officials to map out strategies for player welfare, pathways, and financing.

Fiji Rugby's national head coaches all shared their plans moving ahead.
