Fijiana coach Ioan Cunningham says the team's opening pool B match against Canada at the Women's Rugby World Cup will set the tone for the rest of their campaign.
Fiji face world number two Canada on Sunday, 24 August, Fiji time.
Cunningham said they are in a tough pool, with Scotland and Wales, two experienced Six Nations teams, also in the mix.
The Fijians left Nadi on Wednesday night for Australia, and on to London on Thursday.
Va'a
Team Cook Islands will compete at this weekend's 4th International Va'a Federation World Distance Championships in Brazil.
Coach and veteran paddler Reuben Dearlove said the team is primed and has put in solid training over the past seven months.
Cook Islands News reported the majority of the team competed at the Worlds Distance Championships in Samoa two years ago.
The sole female representative, Talissa Koteka, will be racing in the open women's V1 16km on the first day of racing on Saturday.
Athletics
Pacific Games middle and long-distance champion, Fiji's Yeshnil Karan, will compete in the 1500 metres at next month's World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
Fiji Athletics president Joji Liga said Karan's selection is a proud moment for Fiji Athletics and his achievements are the result of dedication, hard work, and an unrelenting pursuit of excellence.
Karan will be among more than 2,000 athletes from around the world competing at the event.
The World Athletics Championships are scheduled for 13-21 September.
Taekwondo
The Solomon Islands Taekwondo Federation will send one athlete to compete at the 27th edition of the World Taekwondo Championships, scheduled for October in Wuxi, China.
Federation president Joses Duddley said World Taekwondo has approved the Federation's request to send one athlete and one coach to the event.
The Solomon Star reported "only one athlete and one coach will be fully sponsored by World Taekwondo".
Dudley said they will anounce the name of the athlete soon.
