Tennis - Billie Jean Cup
The Pacific Oceania tennis team leads their pool in the Billie Jean King Cup in Malaysia, after stunning the top seeds Chinese Taipei.
Papua New Guinean Violet Apisah got the tie off to the perfect start by beating Hao-Ching Chan in three sets.
Carol Lee of the Northern Marianas then shocked the number one Chinese Taipei player, Pei-Chi Lee, who is ranked 450 in the world, in straight sets.
Patricia Apisah and Abigail Tere-Apisah lost the dead rubber doubles tie.
The win follows on from the team's victory over the fourth seeds, Hong Kong China, by 3-0, on the opening day of the tournament in Kuala Lumpur.
Violet Apisah beat Man Ying Maggie Ng 7-5, 6-2 then Lee overcame the number one player from Hong Kong China, Ho Ching Wu, 6-4, 6-3 to give Pacific Oceania an unassailable lead.
They combined in the doubles to beat the same two players in straight sets.
Netball - Pearls and Tala
The Fiji Pearls netball team played three 'unofficial' warm-up matches in Cape Town, South Africa this week as they prepare for the Netball World Cup.
Fiji plays the Tongan Tala on Friday in both team's opening match.
They played Jamaica on Sunday in their first warm-up game and then tested themselves against Malawi and the Silver Ferns on Monday.
Netball Fiji CEO, Vivian Koster, the matches were crucial for the team as they had only prepared at home.
Meanwhile, the Tongan Tala held warm-up matches against Jamaica on Tuesday as they worked on team combinations.
Tonga Netball president Saloe Sisifa said the team has settled in well and continue with their final preparations.
Football - Women's World Cup
Samoa's Maria Salamasina will be an assistant referee for the Argentina - South Africa World Cup game in Dunedin on Friday.
Anna-Marie Keighley of New Zealand will have control of the whistle and another New Zealander, Sarah Jones, will be the other assistant referee.
Salamasina is making her second Women's World Cup appearance, having worked at the 2019 Cup in France.
Pacific Games - media rights
The 2023 Pacific Games Organizing Committee (GOC) has awarded broadcasting and television rights to Samoa and Vanuatu.
On Monday the committee announced that Samoa Broadcasting has acquired the exclusive television broadcast rights for SOL2023 for Samoa.
They also announced that the Vanuatu Broadcasting & Television Corporation (VBTC) has acquired the television broadcast rights for Vanuatu.
The GOC will produce over 1000 hours of coverage during the Games.
Rugby League - Tonga
Four Tongan schoolboys have received two-year Rugby League Academy Scholarships with NRL clubs in Australia.
The four are Epafeliasi Noa and Tevita Mahungahu from Liahona High School, Sosefo Mailangi of Atele College, and Alekisio Siale of Apifo'ou College.
Noa and Siale will join the North Queensland Cowboys Academy while Mailangi and Mahungahu join the Canterbury Bulldogs.
The schoolboys were part of the Tonga U-16 team which toured Sydney last month.
